6.2 dinner

The 6.2 dinner (which is like a prom ) finally took place after much anticipation and talks of "what are you going to wear" , "how much is your dress" , "will i look okay" , and "will we have good food?"

So then! My experience with my dress was not quite what I had expected, really. I was 99.9% ready to wear the same dress that I previously wore for the Leo prom (though it was already short for me, hooray that I've grown a lil taller in the past 2 years!). Well well, until one day I saw someone having the same dress as me (haha not so coincidential, more of same colour and style) and I ended up wearing Chia's pink dress. Which was a good thing anyway, because I didn't want a short dress which revealed my foot! Chia's pink halter dress was really nice, though it was a lil bit long. That's wear my gold high heels came in =)

We got prepared really early, about 2.5 hours before reception at 6.30pm. The corridor was bustling with my friends and I running up and down, borrowing this and that, doing our hair, make up, last minute adjustments, etc etc etc. I have to thank Chia for everything she's done for me - firstly lending me her dress, lending me her accessories, and doing my nails - thats almost everything! I also have to thank Poh Choo for doing my hair into a bun - it must be really troublesome because my hair is so thick! And also Lavi for my beautiful make up which I so could not have done by myself! Sheue Yng also for her room and running in and out. Joanne for my last minutes "Oh my God Joanne I can't do this..I need this.." , Rin and Kart for entertainment =)

Our corridor took sooooo long to prepare until we missed the Paul House photo with Mrs King. And we were almost the last few to arrive at the Music Hall for the cocktail reception. Anyway, walking out in a halter dress and really high heels was not an easy thing to do was it was freezing. Like, really cold.

We then proceeded to the patch of grass next to the tennis courts to snap a 6.2 dinner photo. We were told to form "CC 07" on the ground while a photographer took a picture of us from above. Sounds good, but the end product was no where quite near what any of us would have probably expected. You cannot make out the "CC 07" at all, and most of our faces were either blocked, too small or blur in the photo. Which was why I didn't buy the picture, and its also why you will not see it on my blog.

Next, dinner time! We went to the Dining Hall in the freeezing cold around 7pm. We were already assigned seats according to subjects or tutor groups. I was seated with mostly the people from my tutor group and my Chemistry class and Benedict, the one who didn't fit into any of these groups..haha. Well well, I already knew I was seated with my tutor group and my Chemistry teacher, Mr R Johnson and his wife, and Mr and Mrs Newton-Badman whom none of them teach me at all. Name cards were placed so that we knew exactly where we sat. My eyes landed at my namecard which also happen to be next to someone I saw everyday for the past 1.5 years. And there Mr Johnson was, waving his fingers and smiling that big smile that reached his eyes, and said "Hi Isteeeeeeeeeeee" in that high-pitched,I-welcome-you-alot,kiddy, friendly voice. And in contrast, his wife (my English teacher) said "Hi Istee, how are you, how was English?" in the polite,adult-ish and calm voice.

Dinner was not bad. For appetizers, we had some prawn salad with alfafa and some salad sauce. The main course was to be taken buffet style (as always like school meals) with some improvision. I chose the duck, and added stir fried veg and also mash potatoes to complement my meal. Nevertheless, the mash potatoes was great, though the duck was really tough. Dessert was some chocolate-mousse-cake thingy, and I only managed to snap the dessert for you people. Well,it was not very tasty really.

The dessert

Throughout there were speeches from Mr Hawkins and selected students, as well as awards and prizes for different subjects and achievements within the college. There are tons of talented and bright students at Concord, and I am sure it would have been difficult to determine the ultimate winner. Nonetheless, it is ofcourse a great achievement to get an award and I am proud to mention that Kart bagged the award for the best student in Accounting! Hooray!

So then...what else?!Photos throughout the night!

We also had a fireworks display near the tennis courts, for about 15 minutes. Then, something spectacular was arranged for us. Fire was blazing upon a watchamacallit which reads "Good Luck, Class of 2007". Besides that we had various activities for the night, like gambling (with fake money ofcourse), various games, caricature, burger stall, disco...etc etc etc. What an improvement from the year before!

Siang Loong, Poh Choo and I waited for the artist to sketch us for sooooo long. Our efforts were hopeless as he did not even bother to consider our pleas when he packed up at 12.15am. Oh well :(, I suppose the man's tired.

Well, the energetic us came back and ofcourse, camwhored!
